How to do Google Video and Voice Chat

Step 1

To use Google video and voice chat with a friend, you and your friend both need to have google accounts.

Step 2

If you both have google email (gmail) accounts, now download and install the google voice and video chat plugin here :

http://mail.google.com/videochat

Install the required plugin into gmail which allows you to have video chat with your friends.

Step 3

After installing the google video and voice chat plug in, restart your browser.

Step 4

Once you have restarted the browser, log into gmail.

A video camcorder icon now appears by your names instead of the green dot in your gmail now, if you have a webcam installed. (Make sure you both are NOT invisible). Now you both are ready to video chat with each other.

Step 5

Hover the mouse on your friend's name and a menu should appear to the right of the mouse showing their name and options of what you can do with them (like email, chat, video&more)

Step 6

Select "Start video Chat". Your friend now sees a chat window pop up with a video and hear ringing. Now a google video chat with your friend has been initiated.

Your friend should click on "Answer" ...and now you can see each other and video chat!
